TCF Türkiye is the Turkish office of Tokyo Consulting Group, a Japanese professional services firm that supports companies expanding beyond their home market.
We work with two kinds of client: Japanese and other foreign companies establishing or running operations in Türkiye, and Turkish companies that need their financial and legal affairs handled to a standard an international partner will accept.
Why a Japanese firm in Türkiye
Foreign subsidiaries in Türkiye tend to run into the same problem. The local accountant is competent under Turkish rules but cannot explain the position to head office. The head office finance team receives numbers it cannot reconcile to its own chart of accounts. Nobody is wrong, and yet the reporting does not work.
We sit on both sides of that gap. Our team files under Turkish law and reports in the form your parent company already uses, without an interpreter in between.
Our approach
We prefer to be involved before decisions are made rather than after. That means telling you the work permit ratio before you make an offer, checking incentive eligibility before the site is chosen, and quantifying a tax exposure while it is still negotiable.
How an engagement starts
The first conversation is about your situation, not our services. What are you trying to do, by when, and which parts are already fixed — a signed lease, a committed production date, a board decision that will not be reopened.
From that we produce two things before any fee is agreed: the order the steps have to happen in, and the points where a decision cannot be reversed cheaply. Some of what comes back is unwelcome — that a permit will take a quarter, or that an incentive has already been lost by an order placed last month. It is better heard then than in month six.
Engagements are scoped and priced against that plan. Where the work is ongoing rather than a project, the monthly scope is written down, so what is included is not a matter of recollection later.
Where we sit alongside your auditor and lawyer
Turkish law separates these roles, and some combinations are prohibited outright. Your independent auditor cannot keep your books. A sworn-in certified public accountant issuing a certification report cannot be the same firm that prepared what is being certified. Only a bar-registered attorney can represent the company in court.
We hold the recurring work — bookkeeping, tax, payroll, corporate administration — and coordinate with the professionals the law reserves those other roles to. When an auditor asks a question, they get the working papers rather than an argument, which is usually the difference between a short audit and a long one.
Part of a wider group
Tokyo Consulting Group operates across 26 markets. If your business expands from Türkiye into another of them, the same group handles it — and the reporting stays consistent as you go.
Who we work with
Three situations, three starting points
Almost every company that comes to us is in one of these positions. What the first engagement looks like depends on which one.
- 01
Entering Türkiye
No entity yet, and a decision to make about entity type, location and timing. The choices interact: the province affects the incentive, the incentive affects the timing, and the timing affects whether a work permit is even possible.
Usually starts with
Structure and sequencing — what to set up, and in what order.
- 02
Already operating here
A subsidiary that runs, but where the reporting arrives late, the parent cannot reconcile it, or nobody is certain the filings are complete. Often triggered by an accountant leaving or a group audit approaching.
Usually starts with
An opening review — what has been filed, and whether it holds up.
- 03
Reporting outward from Türkiye
A Turkish company whose accounts have to satisfy a foreign lender, partner or buyer. Statutory accounts under the Tax Procedure Law are rarely what that audience is asking for.
Usually starts with
Conversion — statutory accounts restated to IFRS or TFRS.
