Agenda

An important risk confronting a company when going abroad is being ill-informed of the national and business culture, as well as the work-related values of the host environment. Basically, doing business in different cultures requires being aware of the differences in the value systems and norms of the host country culture and being able to adapt to conform to these varying systems.

In this short brief, we are going to take a closer look at main aspects of cultural-literacy and explore, with real-life cases, how a multi-national company can alter its business processes to account for the cultural differences in different parts of the world. There are several ways of formulating and implementing strategies for creating a cross-cultural literacy in global companies. These can range from some minor adjustments such as the development of an appropriate incentive mechanism for the sales people, setting a local business meeting code or understanding the differences in time perception, to major adaptations including the structuring of the organization, the way the deals are negotiated or how the products are named and promoted in that context. To guard against the danger of ethnocentrism also is a major issue, which we are going to discuss in detail.

We work closely with you and carry out research to understand your needs and wishes.
